Directions
1 Mount Shark Rd, Canmore, AB, Canada
From Canmore: Follow the signs to the Canmore Nordic Centre, and stay on the Spray Lakes Road, which becomes the Smith Dorrien Trail (Hwy 742, south) – a well-maintained gravel road. Follow this for about 37 km south along the edge of Spray Lake, to the Mount Shark Road turnoff. Turn right. This road is plowed in the winter but another option is to go Hwy 40 South, then turn onto the Spray Lakes Road. It will take up to 1.5 hours from Canmore.
From Calgary: Follow Highway #1 (Trans-Canada Highway, west) to Hwy 40 Kananaskis Trail. Turn left (south), and go past the Nakiska Ski Hill, Kananaskis Golf Course, and the Fortress Mountain Ski Hill, all the way to the Smith Dorrien Trail turnoff (Hwy 742). Turn right (west) and soon after turn right again, and then follow the Smith Dorrien Trail for about 30 km (north) to Mount Shark Road. Turn left.
